Since its inception in February 2010, the core team behind Real NewEnergy has been working hard to grow the company across its 3 divisions and across the continent. We have grown to 8 people, equally divided over our bi-coastal offices in DC and SF. This fall we brought our East and West Coast teams together in San Francisco for an action-packed week of future visioning and physical challenges.
Dr. Darin Olson joined the crew to start us off with a day of interactive presentations at our office in the Dutch Consulate. Team building got kicked up a notch at La Cocina’s incubator kitchen where we learned secrets of Nigerian cuisine co-preparing a meal with Cheifo Chukwudebe of Chiefo’s Kitchen. We also learned how La Cocina is making a difference through the talents of women and immigrant food entrepreneurs – diversifying the local economy while making San Francisco’s food culture that much more delicious.
On the following day we “met the elements.” First we hiked/raced to the top of Mount Tam, getting to know the famous mound of earth quite well. Next we hit the water at Bolinas for surfing lessons led by our resident wave rider Matthew Ross. Paul showed us a thing or two as well and has been tearing up the Pacific Coast ever since. Finally a time for fire came, with the opportunity to warm up and barbeque dinner while sharing stories of the past and plans for the future.
Deliverables were handed out along with brunch and a breath-taking view of the Golden Gate Bridge at Cavallo Point. Quality team and family time has made our united team all the stronger for powering the energy and sustainability transition.
